Q1What is AnimeDives?

AnimeDives is a free, full-featured anime platform: a completed-anime archive (2000-2026), upcoming and announced tracker, ending-soon listings, best rankings, hentai archive, manga/manhwa/novels directory, streaming sources, and a live news blog. Every title in the main archive has finished airing — no ongoing series, no weekly episode drops. You can browse by year, search by title, or filter by genre and score.

Q2How do I find anime from a specific year?

Open the era picker on the homepage and pick a year, or go directly to /archive/YYYY. For instance, /archive/2021 pulls up every finished anime that aired in 2021. Each year page supports text search and genre filters.

Q3Is [anime name] finished airing?

Use the search bar to look up the title. If it appears in our archive, its status is Completed or Finished. We do not list currently airing shows except on the Ending Soon page, where projected end dates are shown.

Q4Does AnimeDives host or stream anime?

No. AnimeDives is a metadata directory. We don't host video, embed players, or link to third-party streaming or download sources. We only show titles, cover art, genres, MAL scores, and completion status pulled from our metadata source.

Q5How do I search for anime on AnimeDives?

The homepage search bar and /search page both support free-text title matching and genre filtering. You can combine a title search with year range, minimum score, and genre to narrow results.

Q6What anime years are covered?

The archive spans 2000 through 2026. Each year has its own page. The current year updates automatically as titles finish their runs; older years are static snapshots of what completed that year.

Q7Are all anime on AnimeDives really completed?

Yes. The default filter only includes titles with status Completed or Finished. For the current year, we also include releasing shows that haven't aired a new episode in at least 7 days, so recently finished series don't get missed.

Q8Where does AnimeDives get its anime data?

All metadata comes from our metadata source: titles, episode counts, genres, scores, popularity, and cover images are pulled directly from their public API and stored in our R2-backed database.

Q9Is AnimeDives free to use?

Yes. No account, no ads, no paywalls. Everything on the site is publicly accessible, including the API endpoints listed in llms.txt.

Q10Can I request an anime to be added?

AnimeDives automatically syncs with our metadata source. If a title is marked Completed or Finished there, it will appear in our archive without any manual request. You don't need to ask — the system updates continuously.

Q11What does 'Completed' vs 'Finished' mean?

Both mean the anime is no longer airing new episodes. Completed usually means all planned episodes ran on schedule. Finished can mean the same, or that the studio actively closed the series. For our purposes, both statuses are treated identically.

Q12How often is the database updated?

Archive pages pull fresh data on every request, so a title that just finished will appear almost immediately. News articles are published as they're written and stored in R2, so they update without a site rebuild.

Q13Can I filter anime by genre?

Yes. The /search page has a genre selector. You can pick multiple filters at once: title text, year, genre, and a score range. Results update as you adjust each filter.

Q14What's the difference between AnimeDives and other anime sites?

General anime databases mix ongoing and finished shows, which means rankings and lists shift every week. AnimeDives only indexes completed series, so the archive stays stable. The Ending Soon page is the dedicated spot for currently airing shows.

Q15Is there a mobile app?

AnimeDives is a Progressive Web App (PWA). You can install it on your mobile device through your browser's 'Add to Home Screen' feature. The PWA works offline and provides an app-like experience.

Q19Are anime images on AnimeDives free to use?

Anime images, titles, and related content are the intellectual property of their respective owners. We display them under what we believe qualifies as fair use for informational purposes. We do not claim ownership of any copyrighted material.
